Fist Of The North Star artist designs new Palafin Ex map
The star of Prismatic Evolutions will undoubtedly be Eevee and its many different evolutions. But it’s clear that The Pokemon Company has pulled out all the stops for this latest expansion.
The set will contain a total of 32 Special Illustration Rare cards, including all of the Eeveelutions and many of Scarlet and Violet’s most notable Pokemon, including a series from Area Zero.
So far we’ve seen cards featuring the following Pokemon, with many more to come:

- Blue-green mask Ogrepon ex
- Flareon ex
- Vaporeon e.g
- Glaceon ex
- Jolteon ex
- Espeon ex
- Sylveon ex
- Umbreon ex
- Gholdengo ex

But while dozens of fantastic cards have already been revealed, the new Palafin ex might be one of the best yet. Designed by legendary manga artist Tetsuo Hara, Palafin ex is a fitting tribute to Hara’s most famous work, Fist of the North Star.
Hara’s newly designed card pays homage to the manga series, which later received anime and video game adaptations, with Palafin throwing a series of punches. This refers to main character Ken’s infamous attack, Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken, or Hundred Rending Fists.
This move, which canonically be a bit violent for Pokemon, causes Ken to unleash over 100 punches, each targeting the opponent’s internal organs and causing them to explode.
However, this isn’t the first time Hara has designed a card for a trading game. In 2022, Hara’s artwork was featured on Magic The Gathering’s Kaito Shizuki card from the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty expansion, another card with the artist’s signature look.
Pokemon Prismatic Evolutions is scheduled for January 2025.
