BRISTOL, Conn. – NFL legend and ESPN football analyst Randy Moss is dealing with an “internal” health issue, he revealed on Sunday.
Moss, 47, shared the news during ESPN’s broadcast of “Sunday NFL Countdown.”
“I just want to share something with you,” Moss said. “You mentioned my eyes last week and I just want the viewers to know that me and my wife, me and my family, are struggling with something internally. I have some great doctors around me.”
The Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver said he may be wearing sunglasses during the broadcast, but clarified that is related to his health condition and is not meant to be rude.
“I couldn’t miss the show, I wanted to be here with you. I feel great,” he said. “But if you see me with these Michigan turnover glasses that I have on, it’s not disrespectful because I’m on television. I’m fighting something. I need all the prayer warriors. God bless you all and thank you for the prayers.”
Moss also shared the news of his health problem in a video posted to his Instagram account on Sunday. The video was captioned: “Go get your checks!!! Prayer warriors, I need you.”
“All of you, you’re doing your checkups, getting your blood work done and we’re working through it,” he said.
Moss played fourteen seasons in the NFL from 1998 to 2012 for the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers. The 1998 NFL Rookie of the Year finished his career with six Pro Bowl selections and was named First Team All-Pro four times. Moss ranks second in NFL history in career receiving touchdowns (156) and fourth in career receiving yards (15,292).
