Dia is the AI-powered successor to Arc’s The Browser Company

According to the teaser, Dia features familiar AI-powered features such as ‘write the next line’ – which pulls facts from the internet, as evidenced by the original iPhone’s launch specs – ‘give me an idea’ and ‘summarize’. tab.” It also understands the entire web browser window, allowing it to copy a list of Amazon links from open tabs and insert them into an email via written prompts.

Another feature in the video shows Dia “performs actions on your behalf” by typing commands into the address bar, for example asking him to find a specific document based on a description and then sending it to someone via email your preferred email platform. A third, more ambitious prototyping feature shows Dia automatically performing more complex tasks, such as adding a list of generic items like “a sleep mask” and “jelly beans” to the user’s Amazon shopping cart or emailing individually tailored information created, such as call times to a list of employees during a video recording session.

What does this mean for Arc? Miller has said the startup has no plans to discontinue its first browser. However, in this video he notes users’ concerns that a second product would lead to the Arc browser being discarded, saying, “In my bones I feel like this is so clearly where the world is going.”
